What is this page all about?

As I'm sure you're aware, there are quite a number of news sites and news regurgitation sites. It isn't specifically fair to classify this as a regurgitation area, but it is fair to call it a project in news syndication. The purpose of this project (sorry no demo for the present) is to aggregate RSS feeds from several major news sites to produce a unique list of news. This news will in turn be available via RSS or perhaps via a web service or both. If the usage of RSS feeds is in violation of copyright, the copyright holder is requested to immediately inform us (Click link to send.), so that we may remove any offending material. At least at the present time, this is not in any way intended to be yet another news regurgitation site.

If this isn't a news regurgitation area, then what is it?

As previously stated, this site is devoted to new programming technologies. This project will use such technologies as RSS (an XML grammar), XSLT, and the Microsoft .NET Framework's XML and HTTP APIs. Perhaps also it will expose the resultant data via an XML web service.

Do you plan on hosting this or releasing it the source code or object code so that it can be hosted elsewhere?

We are firm believers in research and learning. We also are firm believers in intellectual property rights and find the idea of open source code or open object code distribution strategies as disingenious and economically foolish. At this time there are no plans (or even plans to make plans) for any such open distribution of any of our projects.

That was quite a political statement you just made. Care to elaborate?

Since the purpose of this site isn't a blog (not at present anyway), we would rather focus on software than pointing out the inherent flaws in the open source business strategy.

Last question, what is the estimated release date of this project or at least a public beta?

We just dreamed up this project today and don't even have design specs. No project timeline has yet been developed.
